If there is one wonderfully naturally gifted district in Ugamda, it arguably is Tororo district. This eastern Uganda district is endowed with the famously imposing Tororo Rock, the Osukuru and Nyakiriga hills that should if well promoted be minting the district substantial amounts of money through tourism. If you factor in the fertile soils and the famous Tororo Cement Industry which produces cement, lime and roofing materials, the  Elgonia Industries that processes and packs fruits, coffee and tomato sauce not forgetting the  Nyakesi Oil Millers, which produces cooking oil and soap, Tororo District should ideally be one of the richest Ugandan district.

Tororo District is located in Eastern Uganda.  It borders with the Republic of Kenya to the East, Bugiri District to the West, Butaleja to the North and Busia to the South and Mbale to the North East. Tororo District has a Sub-Humid climate with orographic and bi-modal rainfall with peaks during the months of May and October. The Sub Total rainfall lies between 1,130mm and 1,720mm with a temperature between 16.2◦C to 28.7◦C. The relative humidity ranges between 52% to 89% and Tororo town is 1,459.5 metres above sea level. The tertiary pre-elgon volcanic rocks, which include Tororo rock and Osukuru hills, are known to be very rich in minerals, which are potential for the growth of industries for example, cement, fertilizers and fungicide industries. The topography of Tororo is not prone to soil erosion.  Most of the land therefore is gentle and suitable for agriculture without risking severe run off of the top soils.  This further makes Tororo soils good for moderate and appropriate mechanised farming. The roads can be relatively easily constructed and the bandy surfaces that are common in the District provide opportunities for high grade feeder road surfacing.
